Wellness Tip: Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

The good news is that childhood obesity can be prevented. In honor of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, CCS encourages your family to make healthy changes together.

  • Get active outside: Walk around the neighborhood, go on a bike ride, or play basketball at the park.
  • Limit screen time: Keep screen time (time spent on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games) to 2 hours or less a day.
  • Make healthy meals: Buy and serve more vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain foods.

Taking small steps as a family can help your child stay at a healthy weight.

Luther Nick Jeralds Middle School

Enrollment Requirements

Below is a list of documents you MUST provide to enroll your student at Luther Nick Jeralds Middle School.  Please fill out the enrollment paperwork accurately and bring all of the requested information with you in order to successfully complete the enrollment process.

Proof of Address – You MUST provide proof that you actually reside in our school district.   No one is allowed to register without the proper documentation.

Acceptable proof is:

If BUYING your home: (We need BOTH of these documents)

o Deed of Trust

o Current Monthly Utility Bill (Electric, Water, Gas)

If RENTING your home: (We need BOTH of these documents)

o Rental Contract/Lease signed by the Rental Agent or Landlord, including the address and phone number of the Agent/Landlord

o Current monthly Utility Bill (Electric, Water, Gas)

If you and your child(ren) are living with another family or individual:

We need ALL of these documents

o A NOTARIZED statement with the Full Name, Address, and Phone number of the person you are living with

o The Lease or Deed of Trust of the person you are living with, which proves that they live in our school district

o Current Monthly Utility Bill of the person you are living with (Electric, Water, Gas)

o ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: Your pay stub, Social Security Check or a bill that you receive showing the address where you are living

o The PERSON you are living with must accompany you to Luther Nick Jeralds when you bring in this documentation

o NO OTHER DOCUMENTATION WILL BE ACCEPTED

  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Record
  • Student’s Social Security Card
  • Photo ID of Parent
  • Most Recent Report Card-We must have the report card in order to place your child in the correct classes.
  • Current Custody-Cumberland County School Board policy states that a student must reside with the custodial parent or a court appointed guardian to enroll in our system. If the parents are separated or divorced, we MUST have a copy of the custody agreement. Legal custody must be court appointed and signed by a judge. Our school system does NOT recognize any form of Power of Attorney or notarized statements for guardianship purposes.
